Irving Elementary School Art:
2019-2020
Welcome to the art room! Take a look at what we've been up to this year and don't forget to visit our art gallery! Thank you!
A Special Guest
Ms. Kim Tarkowski of LIFECIL came to talk to the 3rd graders about what life is like as a blind person and shared some amazing new technologies. Students learned about Helen Keller and Louise Braille during their time in art class. They also teamed up and created artwork using texture. This artwork can be felt and enjoyed by those who are blind or partially sighted. This was a great experience for all involved!

Winter Art Show
The Irving Winter Art Show was a success! Students worked hard and chose their favorite pieces to display. I'm so proud of all of them! Special thanks to two second graders and a returning sixth grader, who helped get everything up and ready!

Art on the Web!
A great educational website for fun art games and resources is http://www.tate.org.uk/kids !
- Below you will find some drawing tutorials. The students have shown a lot of interest in learning how to draw more realistic people, animals, and cars, so by watching these tutorials and practicing at home, they can work on developing their drawing skills. All they need is a white piece of paper, a regular pencil, and an eraser!
- Please keep in mind that the tutorials below are linked to the internet and are open to a public forum so please monitor your child's internet activity. Enjoy!
